Trims
There are seven trims for the new Mazda CX-70. As such, Urbandale and Ankeny shoppers can choose between the 3.3 Turbo Preferred, 3.3 Turbo Premium, 3.3 Turbo S Premium, PHEV Premium, 3.3 Turbo Premium Plus, 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus, and PHEV Premium Plus.
3.3 Turbo Preferred: As the base trim, the 3.3. Turbo Preferred is very well-equipped. There's a power liftgate, sunroof, and leather upholstery. There's also a half-dozen standard safety features as standard equipment.
3.3 Turbo Premium: This midrange trim builds on the base models design by adding 21-inch wheels, a navigation system, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and increasing the towing cap to 5,000 pounds.
PHEV Premium: This mid-tier trim comes with features like adaptive headlights, a panoramic sunroof, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and a surround-view camera system.
3.3 Turbo S Premium: This higher-end trim has the same features as the PHEV Premium but offers several unique features too. There's a heated steering wheel, premium leather upholstery, ventilated seats, and heated rear seats.
3.3 Turbo Premium Plus: This top-tier trim comes loaded with premium features like a heated steering wheel, premium leather upholstery, and a reverse automatic braking system.
3.3 Turbo Premium Plus and PHEV Premium Plus: Offering even more features than the Premium versions, these trims have Premium leather upholstery (PHEV) and premium quilted seat upholstery (3.3 Turbo S), a heated steering wheel (PHEV) and a two-tone steering wheel (3.3 Turbo S).
Design
Given that the CX-70 and CX-90 are essentially the same models, Altoona and Ames drivers can expect an exquisite exterior design from the vehicle. Shoppers will also find plush materials, upscale designs, and plenty of features throughout the cabin. Then there's the cargo area, which has the same space as the CX-90. Howevethere'sCX-70 does have a larger underfloor storage compartment.
Performance
The all-new Mazda CX-70 is powered by two powertrains. All non-hybrid models utilize a turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six engine that outputs 280 horsepower in the base trims and 340 horsepower in the S trims. Then there's the hybrid setup that uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine there's paired with a plug-in hybrid system for a combined output of 323 hp.
Fuel Economy
The EPA has yet to release information on the CX-70 gas mileage. However, given that the CX-70 and CX-90 are similar, we expect an estimated range of around 25 mpg combined. The plug-in-hybrid version will offer far better efficiency and an all-electric range of about 26 miles.
Technology
Along with a posh interior design and setup, Mazda has given the CX-70 a wealth of technology. There's a 12.3-inch infotainment system as standard, and with it comeThere's CarPlay/Android Auto capabilities and optional Amazon Alexa integration. Urbandale shoppers will also find a 12-speaker Bose stereo system offered in higher trims and a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and a head-up display that is optional.
Safety Features
Found in all CX-90 models is a suite of safety features called i-Activsense, and this, too, is offered in the CX-70. Found in this bundle are advanced driver-aids such as forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, and a safe exit warning system.
