Highlights of the New Mazda 3
For some time, the Mazda 3has been powered by a base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. But this year, Mazda is dropping that engine, and now only the 2.5-liter 191 horsepower four-cylinder and the turbocharged 2.5-liter 227 hp engines remain. While the Mazda 3 is technically more powerful now, its fuel economy hasn’t changed as the EPA still rates the 2.5-liter engine as getting around 28/37 mpg, while the other engine option has an estimated 23/31 mpg.
Along with two powerful engines, Altoona and Ames drivers will find the Mazda 3 also features copious amounts of technology. Features like an 8.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, an eight-speaker audio system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto all come standard. While a head-up display, heated front seats, and a navigation system are offered in higher trims.
Every trim also comes outfitted with plenty of safety features. Basic features include automated emergency braking and automatic high-beam headlights, while adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera are optional or available in other trims.
