Warranty Differences

As you look to purchase your next vehicle, it is important to know the facts about the different types of warranties that can be included to cover your vehicle. Having details on the type of warranty covering the vehicle will help you make an informed decision on your next purchase.

The two main types of warranties on new or certified used vehicles are powertrain and bumper-to-bumper. To begin, a powertrain warranty covers all of the pieces that bring power to the tires of the vehicle to make it drive. This includes the engine, transmission, differential and driveshaft. Components that wear naturally like the battery, fluids, belts and clutch are not included.

A bumper-to-bumper warranty adds to the powertrain warranty by covering other non-wearable components like the suspension, electronic/audio systems, heating/air conditioning and more. Wearable items like interior trim, fabric, body panels and glass are not included in a bumper-to-bumper warranty.
